Read and write IPTC, EXIF, and XMP metadata with professional precision.

Reading Metadata

Select any image to see its full metadata in the Detail Panel. FotoTrafiX reads metadata using Apple's native CGImageSource — no external tools needed.

Displayed fields include:

  • IPTC: Caption/Description, Headline, Keywords, Credit, City, Country, Copyright, Creator
  • EXIF: Camera model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length, GPS coordinates, date/time
  • File: Dimensions, file size, format, color space

Writing IPTC

FotoTrafiX writes IPTC metadata directly into your image files using CGImageDestination. Editable fields:

  • Caption / Description
  • Headline
  • Keywords (comma-separated)
  • Credit / Byline
  • City, State, Country
  • Copyright Notice
  • Creator / Photographer

Changes are saved when you switch to another photo or explicitly save (auto-save on photo switch).

Metadata Templates

Create templates to apply consistent metadata across shoots:

  1. Fill in the IPTC fields you want to save as a template
  2. Click Save Template in the template manager
  3. Name your template (e.g., "Reuters Wire", "Wedding Default")
  4. Apply to any selection with one click

Templates are stored locally and persist across sessions.

Batch Apply

Select multiple images (or use the Selection Tray), then apply a template or manually edit fields — changes apply to all selected items.
