Proof your photos are yours

Every file FotoTrafiX writes carries your credit, your caption, and your location inside the photo itself, in full IPTC and EXIF. That part has always been true. What is new is that the way we handle provenance has now been checked by someone other than us.

FotoTrafiX has been independently assessed as C2PA conformant at Assurance Level 1 for generating Content Credentials, and Air4.media Pilot is conformant as a validator. In plain terms: the same system that creates the provenance can also check it, and both halves are on the public record.

What this means when you file

• Your byline stays attached. Credit, caption, and location are written into the file, not into a sidecar that an editor's system can drop.
• An editor can check your work independently. Provenance built to a published standard can be verified by anyone, which is worth more than a promise from the photographer.
• One system, both directions. FotoTrafiX creates the provenance and Pilot reads it back, so nothing has to leave your workflow to be confirmed.

What is next

We would rather be straight about the one piece that is not finished. Conformance means our software builds and reads Content Credentials correctly. Signing a file also needs a signing certificate from a certificate authority, and that is the step we are still working through. Until it is in place we are conformant and independently assessed, but we are not yet signing files with Content Credentials in production. This page will say so the day that changes.
